Whitecross & District Gardening Club Talk

Thursday 21st March 2024

Whitecross & District Gardening Club Talk

Thank you very much to all of you who managed to make it to our AGM in February on a rather chilly, wet night. We hope you enjoyed the talk given by Caroline Stone and I know that some of you bought little, double primrose treasures to plant in your own gardens. Her selection of cards, made from photos of her flowers, were also very popular.

Our next talk is on Thursday 21st March at 7.30 pm and will be given by Mike Stephens on the subject of Pots for every month.  Mike was a teacher for many years but in retirement he now lectures on a wide variety of gardening topics throughout Devon and Cornwall and enjoys painting and writing. Before moving to a new house he used to open his garden each Spring, at Coombegate Cottage near Liskeard, for the National Garden Scheme (NGS) and ran a small private nursery.

It may seem ages away but in growing terms it is not long until our annual Plant Sale on 18th May from 10am – 12pm. This is our main fundraising event of the year and, although the weather has been a bit of a shocker, we are all starting to sow seeds, divide plants and take cuttings etc. If you could put a few extra into pots for the plant sale that would be brilliant, thank you.

If you would like to lift share to Garden Club please let us know and we will try to find someone who can join forces with you.

We very much look forward to seeing you on Thursday. Please do bring a friend if you would like to and new members are always most welcome.
